Serendipity

An acrostic on the role of chance in our lives.

Surely you know it is almost always chance

Even though our mind likes to pretend otherwise

Reality is we have little say over reality

Even though our mind loves its illusion of control

Not saying that nothing we do has any meaning

Dangerous lines along which to be thinking

I feared it at first, being at the mercy of chance

Powerless until I looked at it another way

Instead of chance, gave it a new name

Transformed it while keeping it unchanged

You can call it chance, I call it opportunity
